On The Horizon

It is almost impossible to overstate Italy’s role in the formation of Western Civilization. Although there is no shortage of tales of human greed, corruption, and barbarism, the Italian contribution to the story of our civilization—including the emergence of America as a global democratic power—has no rival. Politics, philosophy, science, literature, art, music, religion: In all of these realms of human endeavor, the Italians reached heights of human achievement that laid the foundation for the most dynamic and consequential civilization in human history.

These and other essays will compose a book that will highlight the individuals, the ideas, and the places in Italy that form a powerful and indispensable part of the human story. The book also serves as the basis for the documentary film series, The Gift of the Italians.
